Get Game Ready!! The Way They do it at Lynchburg!

OK… After five years of talking to the top NCAA Coaches about unique twists on lacrosse drills, this is perhaps one of the top three new ideas I have ever seen to get our kids ready to play the day before a game. I loved it!

In this case, on a recent trip to Lynchburg, I had an opportunity to see this drill first hand, and I was truly truly impressed! And after Coach Koudelka (whom I also love as a coach) explains the origin and the concept in the podcast as well as the free Preview in the interview section of my site, I can’t wait to get it in my practice plans.

For many of us as coaches we struggle through the season with some important elements of the game… do you ever feel as though any of these apply to you and your team?

  1. Sometimes we come out flat for no reason…
  2. As much as we try to get enough Man Up and Man Down work, we sometimes fall short…
  3. As much as I want to dedicate time to face offs, it is tough to do with a smaller roster, and without a bunch of players just standing around…
  4. When I do dedicate time and work on Man Up or Face Offs, the pace of practice gets agonizingly slow! And it drives me crazy!
  5. The day before a game I have so much I want to review, but in an hour or 90 minute ‘light’ practice it is hard to squeeze it all in, especially if I want to keep it game realist…
